The Fifth House: Your Creative Battery

Sharing is caring!

The artist will say what they create does not come from them or their « mind » but from something more mysterious and ethereal – a divine source. You can call it the Muse, Spirit, God, or the Subconsious.

But you certainly don’t have to « be an artist » to engage this way with the Divine. What do you consider fun? What brings you joy and glee? How do you play?

Aphrodite is all about pleasure!

When we tune into this source, suspended in the state of creativity or play, we are transported far from the binary calls of mundane existence. Doing something we love and enjoy, we lose all track of time – the ultimate matrix of the real. We allow Spirit to express itself through the unique vibration of our body and mind. It could be said that the Gods are having fun through us.

Whether it’s playing video games, solving a puzzle, reading a novel on the shaded lawn, or enjoying a hot date being tied up and spanked – the Gods are not particular!

Your birth chart reveals how you tap into this flow state. If you look at your « wheel », there are twelve places or houses. Twelve sections, each corresponding to a zodiacal sign and an aspect of your life. The Fifth House is where this creative battery operates. Like the other succedent houses (the ones which will soon rise to an angle), it represents resources – psychic resources in this case, as astrologer Austin Coppock puts it. He also says it’s where your personal mojo resides.

The twelve signs of the Zodiac can be organized into four elements: fire, earth, air, and water. Our firey places are action oriented, creative and playful by nature; our earthy places are practical and grounded in reality. The airy houses are full of ideas, words, and communication, and tend to be more abstract. And it’s emotions that swirl and flow in our watery houses.

Your Rising Sign, also called the Ascendant or First House, represents YOU – how you approach and move through life, how you come across when you meet someone, even how you look. You will notice that your Rising Sign is of the same elemental nature as your Fifth House of Creativity.

For example, if your rising sing is Earth, your sources of pleasure and fun will tend to be earthy and grounded. If your rising sign is Fire, then your creativity and pleasure will be more adventurous and dynamic.

If we draw a triangle from the First House to the Fifth House to the Ninth, all will be of the same element. This relationship is called a trine in astroloy, and considered harmonious.

The trine is completed with the Ninth House, which represents your « big picture vision » of spirituality, philosophy, study and travel – what you are aiming for in the long-term way. The element of your Ascendant will match and be in harmony with both your creative juju and your most aspirational plans.

Why do we create anything? We might doodle a sketch, write a poem, learn a chord on the guitar. We might have lots of sex and lots of children. All things created originate from this Fifth House. It’s as if we are operating as a divine factory when we are having fun.

If you think that you’re  being frivolous when simply playing or having fun, think again. The octogenerian Saguaro cacti surrounding my house bloom in the Spring. The flowers fall off and die, unless you bring them inside, where they are preserved like paper mache artifacts.

Does the disentigration of the flowers I did not pick up diminish the point of their beauty? Does the Saguaro care? Creation is simply a biological imperative, just like death and destruction.

Furthermore, a different kind of destruction happens to humans when we don’t engage with our creative and playful nature. Artists understand the particular pain and torment – even illness – that can befall us when we are blocked. The energy our battery produces is meant to go out of us, to become a separate life. When it is thwarted, it implodes inward instead.

Today is the first day of Spring, the Sun having just moved into Aries. It’s shining our awareness on this creative, firey, and « me-first » domain. The flowers are blooming and the creatures are rejoicing (and mating).

Venus is the argulably most beautiful of the celestial bodies, the planet of pleasure, beauty, and relationship. You can see her majesty on the Western Horizon just after the Sun sets, for she is also here in Aries, metaphorically ignited.

Venus is said to rejoice in the Fifth House, for if any planet understands fun it’s Venus. And today is Friday – always the day of Venus. So why not go out and have some fun? 🎨🌷🎶❤️🕺🏻
