A New Moon to believe in
With today’s New Moon, we are called to have faith – faith in what we are doing and why we are doing it. And because it happens in the protective and nurturing sign of Cancer, perhaps we can finally exhale, and settle into the expansive new energy that will be our backdrop for an entire year.
I’m talking about Jupiter’s recent ingress into Cancer (June 9). Jupiter represents our optimism, our spiritual ideals and sense of what is possible to manifest in this precious life. And because Cancer is concerned with growing precious, vulnerable life, Jupiter is an honored guest. Let’s just say Jupiter will get its way during its sojourn in Cancer.
The Moon rules Cancer, and with this lunation has returned to her warm abode to greet the honored guest. This Sun-Moon conjunction occurs at 4 degrees of the sign, less than a degree from Jupiter. Mercury is also present, meaning our thoughts and words are likely to further transmit this energy of abundance and wise possibility.
It’s important to remember that just recently, the sweet planetary combo in Cancer squared both Neptune and Saturn in Aries, testing our boundaries perhaps, or our sense of clarity. But this is in the past, and the New Moon is both forward-looking and fortified by a sextile to motivated, practical Mars in Virgo.
Today you are invited to ask yourself, “What do I care about? What do I believe in? What do I want to nurture, grow, and protect?”
