New Moon in Virgo in Gate 59 (conjuct Regulus)

Sharing is caring!

The Moon is our source of happiness, safety, and nourishment. It governs our emotional body and the rhythms of our moods.

The transiting Moon, going through its phases of New to waxing to Full to waning, is like a cup that fills with light. This light is the information filtering through the stars and then the planets, growing in personal importance the closer we get to Earth. In this way the Full Moon delivers manifest what was seeded at the New Moon.

(You can approach this concept in two time-frames. The New Moon today will be full in Pisces in two weeks. And in six months, it will be full in Virgo. This might help you in choose the magnitude and scope your intentions – with a capital “I” or a lower-case one.)

So let’s get into this New Moon, which occured very early this morning at zero degrees Virgo, just hours after the Sun entered the sign. But this lunation is more pronounced because it will culminate in a total lunar eclipse on September 7, 2025 – the next lunation. Eclipses often portend major beginnings and endings. Look to see where the Virgo-Pisces axis falls in your chart for an idea of which areas of life will be impacted. The mutable signs – Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, and Sagittarius – will be the most affected.

This New Moon features a disruptive but potentially beneficial tight square to Uranus (the Wild Card of the Zodiac). It is assisted by a beautiful sign-based sextile to our two benefic planets – Venus and Jupiter – who are both very eager to do good things in Cancer.

The Sun and Moon are also conjunct the fixed star Regulus, adding another layer of depth to this lunation. Regulus is a royal star, known for thousands of years to deliver empowerment, integrity checks, and a potential for heart awakening.

From a Human Design perspective, zero degrees Virgo falls in the beginning of Gate 59 – the Gate of Sexuality. I see this placement to be about new beginnings related to breaking barriers of intimacy and creativity. We are in practical zodiacal territory, but in this specific degree, matters much loftier than the purely material could be highlighted.

At the end of the day, Virgo craves order, clarity, and refinement. It is adaptable and not afraid to work hard at the details to make the world perfect. Virgo is mutable Earth, where the tiniest seeds that catch the wind become the flowers next year. Gate 59 is also called Dispersion, and in this sense, all endings are beginnings.

In the tarot, the first decan of Virgo is associated with the Eight of Pentacles – the apprentice fully dedicated to a labor of love. You are the apprentice preparing for mastery here. And as you refine your craft or vision, consider today what needs refining – for mutable signs are experts at adapting and change.

With your intention (the Sun) and your most inner subconscious self (the Moon) in complete agreement, you will be poised for the harvest.
