Energy Type
One of the most fundamental aspects of Human Design is one’s energy type. These are the five energy types:
Generators (38% of the population) – The Sacral Center is defined. Generators are here to work, build, and use their ample energy by responding to what lights them up. They are aligned when they feel satisfied rather than frustrated.
Manifesting Generators (32% of the population) – The Sacral Center and the Throat are both defined, and the Throat is connected to a motor (Root, Solar Plexus, Ego, or Sacral). MG’s are also here to work and build, and they are excellent at pivoting and finding the shortcut. Like Generators, they respond to life. They are aligned when they feel satisfied rather than frustrated.
Projectors (20% of the population) – The Sacral Center is undefined and the Throat is NOT connected to a motor. Projectors are hear to direct and guide, to show the rest of us the best way. They are aligned when they feel successful rather than bitter, which happens when they are properly invited to share their guidance.
Manifestors (9% of the population) – The Sacral Center is undefined and the Throat IS connected to a motor. Manifestors are here to initiate, get things started, and lead. They are aligned when they feel peaceful rather than angry. They have the best impact when they inform others about their intentions.
Reflectors (1% of the population) – No centers are defined at all. Reflectors are here to reflect back to us so that we can assess the healthiest, most correct way. Because they are so open to influence, they should wait a whole lunar cycle before making decisions. They know they are in alignment when they feel surprise rather than disppointment.
Each comes with its own set of operating instructions, called Strategy and Authority. Both are determined by which centers are defined in the bodygraph.
What is Strategy and Authority?
Strategy tells us how to engage with life for best results.
Authority provides more nuanced guidance, helping us know if the decision at hand is healthy and timely. Together they illuminate how to best harness our desires, energy and talent.
Notice that most of these strategies involve waiting. (It is only Manifestors – 9% of the population – who are equipped to initiate things.) This advice is counterintuitive and might take some getting used to! After all, most of us gew up with pressure to strive and achieve.
